It may mean ruining the surprise, but if you’re sending flowers to someone, make sure the recipient will actually be present at the address where you’re sending them. With the majority of online flower delivery companies, you can authorize the delivery person to leave the flowers at the recipient’s address, but, during testing, we realized that our writer lived in a Chicago house with a locked front gate, and she needed to be home for the flowers to be delivered. When she asked several delivery companies what she should do about the front gate, they stated that they do their best to leave the flowers inside locked gates, but if there is no access, the flowers simply can’t be delivered.
Shipped in a Gift Box – If you don’t need your flowers same-day, flowers delivered in a gift box is another option that is available. These floral arrangements are sometimes available in bouquet form, or with a vase, and shipped through the mail. Shipping times depend on the day you order and the recipient’s location, but can ship as soon as a couple of days. Flowers shipped in a gift box usually arrive disassembled with assembly instructions included in the box. Many of our plants like succulents and cacti, in addition to blooming plants like rose plants and orchids, are also shipped via mail. Order tracking is available.
Color Trend Expert Mark Woodman and Interior Designer Kelli Ellis, talk about the impact flowers have when trying to establish a good image for your company and brand. Whether we want to accept it or not, experience and excellent work ethic, unfortunately, isn't everything. We now live in a world where color and eye-catching displays or marketing pieces draw people's attention more than the actual content. It sparks interest. The same goes for your work environment.Â

Fresh cut flowers should be easy-peasy. After all, the work of cultivating them has been done for you, so you all you have to do is fill a flower vase with water and toss them in, right? …Not quite. While displaying a Bouq is more low-maintenance than achieving the perfect pH balance of your indoor hydrangeas’ soil, there are some common mistakes you’ll want to avoid in order to give your flowers the best shelf-life – or should we say vase-life? – possible. So without further ado, here are the most common flower display mistakes to steer clear of when you get your Bouq home. Forgetting to Change the Water We all know fresh cut flowers are a temporary delight. So, will it kill your flowers to let them sit in days-old water? Technically, no – sadly time is already on that task. But to make your Bouq last as long as possible, it’s best to change the water every two days. Letting Your Flowers Go Hungry So we’ve covered hydration and the need for clean water – but your fresh cut flowers need to be fed, too! Most fresh flowers come with one or two packets of cut […]

The Chicago bouquet was delivered in a clear glass vase, dropped off by hand with no box or wrapping — the delivery person just handed us the vase of flowers and that was it. The arrangement was kissed with tiny daisies we didn’t know would be there, and dramatic, trailing greenery trickled down the sides of the vase. It didn’t look like its picture online (which actually makes the bouquet look sparse); it was better. It was also bigger by a third than most of the other bouquets we received, and carefully arranged to set off the red roses, which were fresh and at the height of their beginning-to-open beauty. They smelled wonderful. We were stunned.

And not all of us have time to write personalized cards for everyone in our social circle. The answer to this dilemma is simpler than we think: why not send them flowers? Our vibrant arrangements are individually handcrafted by florists who care about quality and variety; you can choose from different assortments of the freshest roses, tulips, peonies, lilies, and more! We guarantee that you’ll make anyone’s day with one of our beautiful Bouqs on your recipient’s doorstep.
In the Netherlands, the first horticultural college was founded in 1896 in Naaldwijk; the second horticultural college was founded in 1897 in Aalsmeer. In 1926, the first national professional qualification examinations in floristry were held in the Netherlands. The horticultural college in Aalsmeer celebrated its 75th anniversary in 1972 and in 1997 its 100th anniversary. Since 1926 is the horticultural college in Aalsmeer was called the ‘Rijks Middelbare Tuinbouw School’ (RTMS). The first professional floristry education started at the RMTS in 1968. The first professor in floristry at the horticultural college in Aalsmeer was Mr. Theo Boerma. In 1972 Theo Boerma started teaching professional evening courses for the floristry diploma: vakdiploma Bloemist-Winkelier. In 1980 Theo Boerma and his wife José Boerma founded the first privately owned floristry school; Boerma Instituut International Floral Design School in Aalsmeer. The floristry diploma was recognized by the Dutch government until 1996. When the borders of Europe opened, the diploma was no longer needed but professional training for Dutch and international students is still organised by the Boerma Instituut.
